Linking your Aadhar card to your PAN card is a relatively easy process. Aadhar Pan card link has been made mandatory by the Indian government recently. Tax payers across India were finding it difficult to find their names in the government database while filing their Income Taxes. Names did not match with their original name and name in the database. The government responded to such complaints and the Income tax department came out with a simple solution of taxpayers linking their PAN card with their Aadhar card.
Linking your Aadhar card with your Pan card is a relatively easy process described by the Income tax department. It is a 2 step process which does not require the taxpayers to login nor register on the Income tax e-filing website. This facility can be used by any Indian citizen to link their PAN with Aadhar. Please follow the 2 step process mentioned below in order to link your Aadhar with PAN.
2 step process for linking Aadhaar with PAN
Step #1 : Go to the Income tax e-filing website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in by clicking here. A e-filing website will open where there will be a option “Link Aadhaar” on the left side navigation panel.
Step #2 : A form will open where you enter your details alike PAN Number, Aadhar Number, Name as per Aadhar (should be the same as written on your Aadhar card) and Captch code (security code) as seen in the image and click the green “Link Aadhaar” button. After successful verification, the Indian government website for Aadhar card which is UIDAI will confirm the linking of Aadhar card with pan card.
There might be a possiblility where there would be a mismatch of entered Aadhar name. In that case UIDAI will send you SMS of OTP on your mobile number that is linked to your Aadhar card. Make sure that the DOB (date of birth) and Gender in both Aadhar card and Pan card are exactly same.
The Aadhar Pan linking will fail completely in case you enter your Aadhar name incorrectly and the taxpayer will be asked for changing the name in Pan card or Aadhar card database.
You can also link your Aadhar card with your PAN card after loging into the Income Tax e-filing portal. Follow the steps mentioned below to link PAN Aadhar:

Step #3: After successful login, go to “Profile Settings” in the blue menu bar on the top of the website and there you will find a option called “Link Aadhaar”. Click on it.
Step #4: A new page will open with a form where Name as per PAN details, Date of birth as per PAN details and Gender as per PAN details will be already filled with the information that you entered while regestering at the Income tax e filing portal.
Step #5: Enter your Aadhar card number and Captcha code (security code) as per the image and click the green “Link Aadhar” button.
